This room…

… was the room that kick started my career in Interior Design.

I’m sure that a lot of you don’t know that when I left my career in fashion PR and working on Bond Street, I created a lifestyle and beauty business to bring a little of my London life to Hertfordshire. It grew very quickly and I took on this beautiful former school house in Welwyn and transformed it into a Day Spa, Hair Salon, Pilates Studio and Interiors Store, I occasionally sold clothing and other interesting pieces too.

This room was my client lounge, where people sat and waited for their appointment, or relaxed afterwards, but it also played host to so many special occasions! We were blessed to host baby showers, birthday parties, engagements and morning of the wedding parties, it really was such a special room. But most of all, it was this room and how I designed it that my clients fell in love with and regularly bought lamps and accessories etc from, that pushed me to follow my dream and grow my own Interior Design Studio. This was in 2011, and this photo was taken just shortly after then, around 2012. And for the last 12 years I’ve learnt and grown so much as a designer, I’d have told my younger self to have followed my dreams much earlier if I’d have known!

I still love this room, my heart is always rooted in classical design with a contemporary finish, which are always rooted in both the comfort and relaxation, as much as the options for entertaining. As a first project, it’s still very much how I design today.
