Berkhamsted

A newly extended living room that was designed to be used both as separate seating areas, and also which when combined, come together as one large room

A glamorous and deeply comfortable and relaxing room with various seating areas to enjoy, with sumptuous fabrics and a polished finish. By creating two quite different, but connecting zones in this large room, there are different areas to use depending on how the family want to enjoy the space.

We embraced the cosiness of the original part of the room by the fire, creating a deep and rich scheme with dark blue luxe velvets and charcoal silk effect wallpaper. Oxidised mirrors give a timeless finish and reflect the beautiful crystal chandelier and table lamps creating a warm glow of an evening. We added an ottoman in a contrasting fabric, to help to connect in the other seating area, by bringing the fabric into this part of the room, also adding comfort to the space to put feet up on, with the additional benefit of providing an extra source of seating when needed.

We embraced the beautiful light in the brighter part of the room by using a lighter tonal dove grey fabric in the same luxe velvet and contrast piped the cushions to tie in with the darker sofas. We’ve avoided ‘sofa fade’ by using a lighter shade here, and by combining the fabrics across both areas by contrast trimming in the opposite fabrics, the space feels really harmonious.

We used a lot of marble, glass and crystal throughout to really elevate the styling and create a decadent, elegant finish.
